Covered Button Craft...

Playing with Self Cover Buttons is... addictive.
There is so much you can do with them!
I love getting my scraps stash out and make up a few to add to the bowl of 'buttons just incase i need them'...
For any of you neeeewwww to this idea - don't think of them as a 'button' in the traditional sense.
Think of them as an embellishment and then the possibilities are endless.
 I have used them:
on Bunting
as hair bobbles
on hairslides
as the centre of flower brooches
on embroidery hoop pictures
as brooches on their own...
Below are my largest Self Cover set.
I like these (approx 38mm?) because you can really create a mini art work.
I love choosing the fabrics and all the little details.
Below, i started with a linen disc and added all the embellishments to it before gathering it all together and gluing it into the self cover button. These big covers are easy because:
a) you don't need a tool to snap them closed
b) being plastic you can use a good glue on it to make doubly secure without worrying about the volatility if you were using metal covers.
Below is the work of Jess Sharp...
LOVE her stuff.... pretty x go see!
one my all time FAV brooches of hers is on *SALE* too.

Anyway - keep your eyes peeled in the shop where i will be adding packs of self cover buttons in various sizes (with Tools) and scrap stash bags to play with.
Have a grrrreat weekend if i don't see you before?

Pretty Lace Edged Bias Bind...

These are being added to shop
(sold in 5 metre lengths, because i always make my bunting in 2.5 metre lengths)
There are 3 Polka Dot colours:
Seafoam, Red, Raspberry and 1 floral = Meadow
Then 1 superb cherry and strawberry design!
These are pre-folded bias ready to use.
The lace edge adds something very new to our pretty bunting / bias designs.
I could not resist them!!
And, 2 new colours in our big flower button collection - purple and pear.
Something new to play with, nice and Summery!!.... Summery???
Whilst the sun was out briefly yesterday, i had a lovely few hours cutting and tying and packaging and sorting and generally playing with new supplies. My FAVOURITE part of my job is organising all the supplies in the studio... i know, i lead a small life.
And you'd want to imagine me stood in a beautiful linen dress with wacky stripe tights and a mad pink cardigan with awesome leather boots to finish (well, that is what i would have liked to see me in!)
Instead, i ruin the image with me stood in a mad Hulk Style T'shirt and, button fans,... i STINK!
having spent the morning gym-ing.
i love a life of extremes :)
Here's hoping we do get some more sunshine people
and happy LONGEST DAY! x x x

I ain't never seen a wild thing sorry for itself...

There is NO other reality than the reality you make for yourself.
There is no other life than the life you are in, the life you make for yourself
(~ what your Maker has planned for after that, is His business ~)
There are plenty of hours in your day, in my day, so let's fill them with meaningful shit.
I am serious.
I cannot listen to any more of your own,  or my own,  lists of "why i didn't get that done this week"...

I am fatter than i would like to be because a) i eat too many calories in my day and b) i allow media images to convince me thin = pretty. I can stop that, if i choose to.
 Whatever motivates you 'maaaan'
Whatever makes you want to get out bed in the morning and say "this is my life"
Whatever it is that makes you get dressed (or not) and get on with your day - use it.
I am in danger of becoming some kind of Nike advertising here - "JUST DO IT" - n all that.
"you are always so bloody cheerful in the mornings" - a school mum said to me.
GOOD! i want to be and I am! if i could not find a single thing that morning to smile about then truly i have hit a dark scary place.
What is it that motivates YOU?
Maybe i have watched too many war films recently? you know 'gggrrrrr'
I love war films. I love US armed forces films.
GI Jane is like my bible (title quote is used in that film)
and Full Metal Jacket has played over and over in the back of my mind since the first time i saw it.
There is a time and a place for self-pity, for sadness, for a day under the duvet and a tub of Ben & Jerrys.
If that is your day most days - fine! do it. If it makes you truly happy DO IT. Enjoy it.
It isn't for me. I want to run a marathon, and eat like a pig with my friends, and do some gardening with my dad, and lift heavy weights whilst people tell me i am 'obsessed', and run my own business, play in the swimming pool with my daughter, take my dog running....
and that is just one weekend...
